Things to do in Phuket

Boat cruising Rent a yacht and cruise one of the world's most renowned cruising grounds. Charter boats are available with a captain, crew and meals from luxury motor yachts for those who love to sleep on the water, to ocean going sailing yachts or smaller dinghy class vessles. If you are experienced take a yacht out on your own. This is a very special way to enjoy the waters of Phuket.

Dining Out on Phuket Island as with anywhere in Thailand is one of the most pleasurable experiences while visiting this country and fortunately for Phuket, one of the best restaurants in the whole country is situated ion the foreshore in northern Patong...the internationaly renowned Baan Rim Pa Restaurant caters to your every gourmet fantasy. Check it out, you won't regret it!

Sea Kayaking This is one of the most popular trips offered off the island, to Phang Nga Bay. Paddle past immense limestone islands that thrust up from the ocean in spectacular formations. Riddled with caves and 'hongs' (open to the sky, rooms) and literally 'dripping' with jungle foliage the islands are a photographer or nature-lovers dream.

Diving There are many scuba diving schools on the island offering instruction aswell as dive trips. The waters around Phuket and the many islands offshore abound with tropical marine life and spectacular coral. If scuba diving doesn't take your fancy, just snorkeling anywhere along the west coast, will be a rewarding experience.

Elephant Trekking Let these quiet monolithic creatures take you through the jungles of Phuket. A wonderful way to see parts of the island you wouldn't normally experience.

Cashew-Nut Factories These trees thrive here and a visit to one of the factories is worthwhile. The nuts are reasonably priced here and make wonderful gifts for friends and family back home.

Wat Chalong The largest and most spectacular Buddhist Waton the island, it is 1well worth a visit.
Lady visitors note that a Buddhist monk may not touch a woman so care must be taken if passing close to one.

Laem Promthep Popular with locals and tourists alike, this is a perfect spot from which to experience one of Phuket's famed sunsets. Located at the southern most tip of the island, it affords spectacular views across the Andaman Sea.

Patong Nightlife This is the busiest area on Phuket Island other than Phuket city itself. Its streets are lined with shops, bars, girlie shows, restaurants, hotels and art galleries. At night this place comes alive and doesn't die off again till the wee hours. If you are a 'bop till you drop' type or looking for a special bargain in one of the many stores, this is the place for you.

Butterfly Farms Thailand lays claim to having one of the most varied collectionof butterflies in the world. These farms have open walk-through areas where you can see their brilliant colours close up.
